BOOK EXCHANGE |
|
Enjoying a good book can add some great moments to a trip. But the weight these companions take can be a burden while travelling, especially when you mean to spend a long time on the road. So finding new reading material becomes an important issue. In South America it can be hard to buy English books, and they are normally pricey, even paperbacks. One of the best ways to obtain new reading material is to swap books with fellow travellers. Unfortunately there is seldom possibility for a good trade. |

Some guests houses offer "Book Exchanges" The rules change in every case (sometimes the people running the exchange charge US$1 per book, others exchange 2:1, others do it for free). The idea is always the same: the traveller brings the books he has already read, and can choose something new from among available books. In Alba's we have some books, most of them in English but also in other languages like German, Dutch and French. We prefer exchange 2:1, but if it is not possible then accept 1:1. There aren't charge for change. We don't sell books. The exchange system 2:1gives us new stuff. The idea is to enlarge the library, so we are really thankful to all the people who bring more books than they take away. Please don't leave that finished book in the plane or in the hotel room, try to bring it to Ushuaia or send it to us. We and other fellow readers will be very grateful. Magazines like Times and Newsweek are also welcome. |
